Welcome to Pictura
Pictura is an independent children's bookshop based in the historic harbour town of Port Chalmers, just 15 minutes from Ōtepoti Dunedin city centre.
Featuring a wide range of picture books, a hearty stock of contemporary books from Aotearoa New Zealand, Pictura also stocks board books for the very young, illustrated non-fiction titles and a selection of graphic novels for 8-12 year olds. The aim is to be a New Zealand bookseller of consistent quality and variety, with a focus on the art of illustration.
You’ll find plenty of fantastic children’s books here for sale on our online bookshop. Our cosy space makes us arguably the cutest book shop in Dunedin. Join us at Pictura and celebrate the art of children's books.

Neat little store with a great selection of illustrated children's books. Was super inspiring to go in store and see an abundance of great reading material for the tamariki as well as a celebration of visual artists.
Fantastic children's bookstore with an incredible range of books. I had to do at least 4 laps of the shop to take it all in and found some real gems! Purchased the gift subscription online some time ago and it was a huge success. Will be a frequent visitor!
What a little gem of a store! Two absolutely gorgeous children's books for my little boy arrived this morning, I know he will love them!
Such a cool bookshop. A wonderful selection of NZ and international kids (and big kids) books. 100% need to check out if you are in Dunedin or Port Chalmers - the shop is so lovely. If you can't visit in person, you can shop the selection online!
What a super surprise to find in Port Chalmers. This would have to be the best children's book store that I have ever visited, and as a former school principal I've visited many. We left with a couple of joys for our grandson.
